McKee update

I had high hopes that I could connect the murdered Hugh McKee clearly to the McKees of Poagsburn, the McKees of Poagsburn in 1798 to those of the 1880s (and by marriage to my wife’s Carricknaveagh ancestors) and from my wife’s ancestors back to both those earlier branches and thus to Linen Hugh McKee.

I have not managed to achieve these goals as of mid October 2026. My thinking now is that my wife’s progenitors were descended from Linen Hugh’s nephew, Big Davy of the Temple but have not been able to demonstrate this.

There is also a discrepancy in dates meaning that I can be certain of the connection between the 1798 generation and those around from the 1860s onward.

I will continue to add the names from Professor McKee’s book to my family tree chart but will not attach it here. I may attempt a visit to the Burnt House to take a photo (I do have access to an old monochrome photo of it) but otherwise suspect that I will be ceasing active research into the McKees unless someone comes forward with useful information.
